Dasaria2 DM Led Groups - Highlighted Player has Initiative
When running tightly-DMed Pen-and-Paper-style groups, Dasaria DMs can choose to use a tool to manage who's turn it is based on initiative for roleplayed actions, DMFI dicerolls, misc actions outside the game engine. This allows us, when desired, to run groups on the PW much like you'd run a 3.5E game with a group of players hanging out in your living room.
At the end of their turn, players can pass to the next player in the group, the DM may do so, or their turn may expire automatically if they've failed to take an action.
The game engine rules most of the server and all of the static quests, and is still used to manage combat in DM-led groups, but for "everything else" a DM wants to do while running a PnP-style storyline, this is massively helpful. Rather than getting pilloried with a bunch of random DMFI dicerolls, a specific player can attempt a specific action while calling her intent to the DM or Group.
Of course, we still launch a few goblin armies against the city gates every now and again too. :D But we've a handful of DMs on the server that do a PnP-style game with a regular group once a week.
